Been attending Japanese class at Misawa International Center for around a month. My sensei asked me to help out for a day in assist the American visitors and in making sushi maki. Went not knowing what I should be doing, how long it was going to be and I did not even know how to make maki. Later did I know I was in charge of a group of American tourists to bring them around according to the schedule. Turnout it was not just only maki making but several events for the guests to enjoy and try Japanese's activities. Luckily, my sensei roped in other 2 Japanese young girls to help me out, otherwise too shameful for me (the leader) to bring them around not knowing where's the location.
1st event was sushi maki making, I helped to translate Japanese to English while they were trying to make the maki rolls. Even gave wrong information to 2 ladies when they encountered difficulty in rolling the roll :p. Later I admitted to them I am not Japanese and I had never done it before lol!
2nd event was koto (箏), string instrument. Each person in my group got to try and played the instruments. Looked interesting, I also wished I could try it too. There was a person in the room filming the process and got me to interview one in my group since he said his English was not good. Wow i got to be a reporter for 2 minutes, palm sweating lol.
