It is quite rare to see prawn ramen shop as usually most ramen are meat based soup. I saw this in the Japanese magazine and was pestering him to bring me along. Turned out the prawn wasn't the prawn i expected when we eat prawn noodle in Singapore. Its the tiny shrimps that's usually meant to add flavour in the soup or u grind it into powder. Still delicious though although i was hoping the soup to be like Singapore prawn soup. After we left, he asked me if i know what ingredients the ramen contained and the soup. I replied the prawn soup was delicious. He said that was actually pork soup based not prawn then they added the baby shrimps for flavour. I was ...............
I was never a food expert and most of friends will agreed i have quite low standard in evaluating food taste lol. The food expert or the "picky" one in my family is my brother. Anyway, he said Japanese are quite picky for the soup based, if the ramen shop will be served only prawn based soup, it will be niche market as majority are used to meat based soup and so its better only to add shrimps in the soup to have the mild ebi taste instead.
