If anyone in the past asked me, will i consider being back in Kampong life and have a farm, i would have just scoff and said you gonna be kidding me! Never!! I am not the hands on type of person. I prefer to have high tea with a piece of cake chatting. Furthermore, remember my fear of bugs in previous post.
Now i have to bite on my words, i actually enjoy removing the never ending and rapidly growing weeds and just looking but not touching crickets, tiny grasshoppers *I did not know female grasshoppers always carry male grasshoppers around, i thought it was carrying their kid until Shota corrected me. Male grasshoppers are really tiny in comparison to the female*, earthworms *ew!!! just saw them today when i was removing weeds, gosh they are long! Still remain in my gross list* and the capable spiders that manage to weave their webs from my house to the garden shed. The distance is at least 1.5m away and the poor dragonfly was caught in it. I did consider rescuing it but its was too high up and the spider/spiders should enjoy its reward after the hard effort isn't it?
Whenever i feel that i have been cooped at home for far too long and needed a break, taking my eyes off my iphone, computer etc.. I would put on my farmer's boots, gloves and hideous sunscreen cap and of course i would timed it at the time when the sun is least glaring and head out.
The soil in our garden is so rich that basically we do not water it anyway and it will grow on its own. Judging the way how rapidly the weeds grow, i am sure they feel the same lol! What a transformation it become from a wild abundant of mess to our simple tiny farm. I know i should call it garden but all we done till now was clearing weeds and planting vegetables... No flowers nor nice arrangement of what i consider a garden should be.
My wistful wishes:
1) i hope the stupid grasshoppers and caterpillars stop eating the leaves, i do not wish to spray you to death most of the time.
2) Birds please help me remove the big earthworms, leave the small ones will do. They are too big for my liking
3) Weeds, can you stop growing that fast! You are giving me backaches for squatting so long!
4) Ants!! Can you shift your house to another territory! How come you don't seem to be diminishing after tons of ant poison you ate?!
Before picture, i told you its wild lol! |
