Upon requested by my ex Japanese sensei in Misawa International Center, I held a class on how to cook Singapore style chicken rice. My sensei heard that I taught the class for one of elementary school (also requested by the school) and thought of asking me. I accepted but was worried..... My method was so simple and mainly only required rice cooker, my knife skill sucks and yet I have to teach in front of those seasonal housewives who cook daily??!! I made S came with me as he was a better cook and I could count on him if I cock up (Singlish, it meant if I screw anything up) :P...
Right even before few weeks of the class, I was kinda of hoping the class will be cancel (due to low enrolment rate haha!). That day was even a typhoon day!! I was thinking if there will be no show as the rain and wind was crazy, even the main car park at Misawa International Center was flooded! In the end 12-13 people came to attend my class!
As I was the teacher, had no time to take pictures at all, there were a few hiccups while I was demonstrating but thankfully it did not affect the taste of Chicken Rice. I also brought along stuff from Singapore to show them while we waited 40 minutes for the rice cooker to cook and they sipped on Kopi O (3 in 1 coffee from Indonesia but its well known in Singapore, anyway that's the closest we can get in Japan haha).
Overall pretty good! They like the Chicken Rice and commented it was easy to make, one even asked if I was holding another class next time! Hmm.... Have to consider haha!! Most were unsure what was Singapore style food and they had a different impression of it so this dish was kinda of surprise for them.
The rest of cleaning and clearing up was done by my teacher and her assistant as they were the in charge for organising the class. I (We) had a great time!
