Headed down to see sakura festival at Hirosaki Castle. Before that, we been wanting to try the new ramen place we saw on local TV news. Its the new "in" thing to try among the locals. The ramen master is well known being the researcher of ramen and is born in Hirosaki (although he used to work in Tokyo). He had been to over 2000 ramen restaurants all over Japan, wrote or published 20 over books of his recommendations and tasted over 700 ramens annually. Now he has came back to Hirosaki and started his own ramen restaurant.
Even though we were full from our breakfast, we knew we had to try the ramen. Right now they have 3 choices of ramen: shoyu, miso and fish based. Honestly if I had not seen the news, I would not know what's the hype about. The ramen were delicious, but as a foreigner it need more varieties. Hirosaki has many tourists visiting and its within walking distance from the castle, would be good business if they can attract foreigners as well.
