Camp Hachinohe 61th Anniversary (八戸駐屯地 創立61周年記念行事)

Visited Camp Hachinohe which was opened to the public on 22th April. There was a long line to board the helicopter and tanker, but not us.... S's main aim was to check out the goods and managed to get the deals he wanted. That day was windy and cold, it rained and stopped continuously so we left early. S gave me his jacket when it rained but it was too cold for him so I returned it back lol..... I did not want him to be a sick gentleman lol.....

Went to Korean store to get the authentic kimchi but the store was closed.

Inside the camp

Koroke tasted so good

Hideji Update

It was meant as a headband for us but we used it on Hideji. So cute!

Took him a while to realised there's a headband behind him. He was surprised for 1 minute... walking around and looking back every once in a while. Then he gave up or became indifference.

Forgive my ugly face... studying together hehe

super ugly face.... like my mil said, why does Hideji managed to have such ugly face but so adorable in reality .

Japan Day 2017 in Misawa

Always enjoyed going Japan Day on base, many activities to try and see. This year I participated in some activities like Tea ceremony, calligraphy and koto. My calligraphy was really bad yet S insisted to frame it up at home next time. I wish to throw it away..... Koto was quite fun, it was my first time playing an instrument since primary school lol. Wanted to try kimono but gave up upon seeing the long line waiting for their turn.

As we left, saw Yuka's husband and Spin (their dog), it was funny to see him with purple Hello Melody small bag (for dog use) and carrying Spin in another arm walking back home. They walked to base from home but since Spin was exhausted, he carried her back instead.

Trying their hands on flower arrangement

He was really good at it!

Doing all sorts of cool ninja poses

Tea ceremony

1st Tea with sweet taste

2nd Tea with milder taste. Did not know that the tea will change its flavor when water boiled at different temperature  was added. Both tea used the same leaves yet such drastic difference in taste.

wanted to try this the most

Night Nebuta in Misawa

Went on base with Yuka to see Aomori nebuta. It was the first time they came from Aomori City all the way to demonstrate how the festival felt like. It was like a miniature experience, even the float they brought was small. The real size of float is at least 4-5 times the size that required 20 person to support the float.

We were expecting to have more performance but it was really short since there's only 1 float and they merely moved from 1 point to other point. Since Yuka never seen the festival, hopefully she will be still around in summer to visit the real Nebuta.

I finally see the newly appointed Aomori City mayor live! He is always on tv.

ラーメンショップ 下田青葉店 (Ramen Shop @ Oirase)

There is a ramen shop (Its really called Ramen Shop lol) nearby but I never been there before. It open super early and usually close before noon. I never want to eat ramen so early in the morning... its too heavy for me. But I always see people queuing outside the shop so it must be very popular.

Few days ago in April, which the weather should be warmer... However that day, it was snowing and it was strong wind and heavy snow. We went to ramen shop as it was the perfect time to eat it in that miserable weather. The ramen shop famous ramen is raudo ラウド with extreme volume of noodle and vegetables with garlic paste and chips. I ordered normal salt (shio) ramen instead as S was pretty sure that I would not like it. S was also afraid to order raudo ラウド as he could not finish it so he ended up ordering extreme sardine taste ramen (Yarisugi-Nibishi). I did not like his ramen at all, S said one can get salt, miso, shoyu ramen at any ramen place but not raudo ラウド. Hence, any customer that came in, all ordered raudo ラウド. Must say it is an acquired taste, either you will love or hate it.

Did not know it start from 6.31 (why not 6.30 lol), though it stated close at 2pm. It usually close by 12pm i think.

Their famous ramen is on right hand side "raudo". Its has very thick meat and sardine texture. I tried the soup but did not like it.

Small shop actually

I prefer my shio ramen (salt ramen), lighter in texture and easier to eat

S ordered extreme sardine taste ramen (Yarisugi-Nibishi), he loved the taste.

Exterior of the shop

drove to shichinohe and had our gelato. Wrong move, should have shared one. I was freezing after finishing it.

Went to supermarket and saw frozen Singapore laksa! Getting popular in Japan!

Montagnas (Cakes & Bread Shop) @ Oirase (Near Shimoda Mall) モンターニュ

Near the Shimoda Mall, there are a french style cake & bread shop with prominent four-tiered cake figure. We stopped by out of curiosity and it turnout that the cakes and bread tasted better than we expected. Especially their cream (be it in the cake or roll) was the best, much tastier than Shiroi Mori Cake House. I would really recommend everyone to try their Corone (Cream roll). We had a chat with elderly lady staff (maybe owner) and she gave us free chestnut cookies.

Returned home and did research on Montagnas. Seemed like its a well known secret cake shop among the locals.

P.S We brought my parents in law today (Monday) as my mother in law loves cakes and bread. Sadly it was closed :( I forgot that the shop close on every Monday.

住 所 青森県上北郡おいらせ町字土取16-2
営業時間 AM8:30~PM19:00
定休日 月曜日 (Closed on Monday)

Always drive pass but never stop by

They have a prominent 4-tier cake model outside their shop.

Potato bread on the left and cream roll (Corone) on the right. Best cream I had tasted here!

Mont blanc and Berries cakes. Super delicious!!

Chestnuts dessert given by the lovely lady staff (owner?)

寿司花館 三沢 (Sushi Hanakan @ Misawa)

Thanks to the one coin lunch book, I got to step in this Sushi Hanakan for the first time. There's plenty of conveyor belt type of sushi places around which are bigger, newer and cheaper. Heard from S that 寿司花館 is actually the first generation of cheap conveyor belt type sushi chain in 90s. Their outlets were everywhere until Kappa Sushi chain came and destroyed their boom.

The don was delicious but I probably would not consider coming back without the promotion. Their sushi variety was lesser and more expensive than other popular sushi chain.  They cater more to takeway bento I guess.

500 yen promotion set.

very simple

Surf Clams

We also called it pink sushi due to its logo colour.
