Shichinohe Pizza Festival 2016 & Odawara Fruit Parlor @ Hachinohe

Went for our annual visit in Shichinohe for pizza festival. This year we went alone as no one confirmed with us when S asked. We managed to buy 5 pizza but had to wait 40 mintues for 1 pizza. The queue for pizza was always long since most stalls only have 2-3 ovens and 1 person might buy 1 whole box.

Moved on the local market and they were  offering shirouo (baby salmon) fishing, you can fish and eat it alive! S did it and swallop it down yikes! I did not dare to try it, did not feel courageous at that moment lol!

Next day, okaasan and I went to Hachinohe, we tried the fruit parlor that she had recommended to S but we never been there since S was always complaining that its expensive. Hence we finally got the chance to visit ourselves! Since we finished our main activity early, we reached the store at 10am and ate the sweets early in the morning! It was tasty but would be better if they served small food dishes along with the desserts. (The cafe is quite small with 3-4 tables only so i guess that their main business is selling high graded fruits which that up bulk of the store space).

Looked deserted since we were early

All the queues!

crust too thick but its the fastest among all

Shichinohe & Mutsu Flower Festival 2016

This year is our first year of visiting red flowers (forgot the name) in Shichinohe. The flowers surrounded the hill which has a shrine situated on the top. It was breathtaking beautiful! Slight drawback was that was basically it! After you climbed up and admired and headed down, it was less than 20 mins. No festival for you to look at just brunch of local ice cream sellers. Its akita, tohoko speciality that old folks (usually the ladies) selling colorful or flower like ice cream. You won't see it elsewhere in other parts of Japan.

Next we went to mutsu to see the hano flowers and ate my favourite scallops don. We went during weekday since we won't be free to go during the carnival. Learnt something new about the nano flowers, every year the organizers have to switch the areas to plant the hano flowers as it will not survive if it is planted in the same area. Interesting isn't it? Same goes for other plants like tomato

Dinner with the Hoang's!,

Finally able to fix a dinner date with our good friends! Been a while since we last saw them and our schedule never seemed to match. Glad that we were able to bring them to my favourite sushi restaurant before they leave Misawa, Boo! During dinner, both of us carried the adorable baby that resemble Bao so much now. I was really worried about S way of holding the baby, must support the neck first!

We drove back with me leading the way and I got lost in the midst of the rain and darkness haha! Poor them! Kristi should be scratching her head while driving behind me. Drove rounds and rounds since I drove into the small lanes, was supposed to drive to the mall but S declared that I was too dangerous and we headed back home.

Hirosaki Castle - Sakura festival 2016

Once again we made a visit to Hirosaki castle for the sakura festival. This is our first time to drive and find parking, all the other times we took trains since S wanted to drink beer. Its was such a bright and sunny day and all the sakura will glittering against the sunlight! We came at the right time with all the sakura blossming to their fullness. I tried my first time of 金魚 (using paper to catch the tiny gold fish). It costed ¥300 for 1 try if you want to bring the fishes home but if you just want to play then its same price for 3 trys.
We took the 3 trys and i got S demostrated the first time. He was useless lol.... The paper was torn in 1 scoop, not even 10 seconds. With the remaining 2, i was able to scoop 3 fishes!
