Hideji's Escapades

This week had been close shave for us. We nearly lost Hideji twice...! On Tuesday, like any usual day I was taking Hideji on his daily walk and all sudden I lost control on his leash and he sprinted away..! He stopped to look at me but no matter how I called his name he refused to come back, then as I ran towards him, he sprinted away again. I was near to tears as there's no way i could outrun him and he made a turn and I lost the sight of him. When I finally spotted him, he was waiting afar looking at me before he went off yet again. Luckily for me, he get distracted by other dogs easily and he approached the small girl with her toy poodle which we will meet and greet each other every time we met. She picked up Hideji's leash and waited for me to catch up. If not for her, I doubt I could be able to get Hideji back. Of course as usual, S was scolding me for being a bad owner and that I should reflect. S was saying that Hideji definitely would return if he was the one calling out to him

2 days later, it was S's turn to lose Hideji lol.... S was testing Hideji's collar and pulling it out to see if Hideji was able to slide out of it and boom! Indeed he could! Off he went again! S called out to him and he came back to touch S and off he ran! S used to be short sprint runner for Aomori prefecture (used to compete in short distance and his record is around national level) and caught up to Hideji when he was peeing. He got mad and made Hideji so scared that he peed all over himself and S on the way back home. Hideji did not even dare to eat his breakfast and I had to make S go away and coaxed Hideji in eating.

Conclusion: Hideji will not return back AT ALL if he is ever off the leash lol!

Bringing Hideji to Aomori

Brought Hideji along to Aomori as we be staying a night. What a big baby Hideji was..... He has motion sickness during the car ride and puke his breakfast. Luckily it was not liquid but undigested dog food and he ate it up again lol.. Ever since then, I have to carry him instead and opened the windows when he looked unwell. (Still struggling to find best position to carry him in my arms and being able to rest at the same time)

 When it was bed time, we left Hideji in the living room in his cage while we went to second floor. Shortly, okaasan heard someone whining (crying) and got S to check Hideji out. Hideji was crying and rushed towards S when S opened his cage. Maybe he was scared and lonely in the new environment alone, since we were with him throughout the day and he was fine. Hideji is really our big baby lol!

End of Year Potluck Party @ Michinoku International Japanese Education Center

Had a potluck party on 13 Dec 2016 and that was end of term of my Japanese class in Hachinohe. They have the tradition of having potluck party when the term ended. Each of us have to bring along food to share with others. S came along upon the invitation from my Japanese Sensei, we met her randomly one day at the shopping mall haha! I intended to cook but S ended up cooking the Singapore style dishes (Laksa and 5 spices fried chicken) and drove us to the class.

Each of the class also had to prepare a performance and present in front of everyone. Our class was doing Japanese tongue twisters and I had been practising as much as I could e.g in the car while S was driving or while I took Hideji out for walk. S was quite irritated by my endless practise lol! It all ended well! Before the party, we had half hour class and S sat beside during the class. During the potluck, S was talking to my fellow classmates and he ended knowing more about them than me!

Got to eat ALOT other countries cuisine like from Thai (curry, thai salad), China (dumplings), America (they even made Turkey!). I took plenty of helpings that I was eating and standing around, while my America friends were sitting and chatting at the table. Did not return to the table at all lol! Surprisingly, many loved the laska (spicy to some) and towards the end, it was almost all gone. Maybe we can open Laska restaurant in Misawa lol!

Skateboarding with Hideji

Went to have lunch after our blood donation. That day my donation was not successful since the tube was bent but none of us noticed and they thought it was the needle problem. Ended up poking here and there and they ended the session. Not so painful that day but the next day, the injection area was blue-black and painful.  The volume of saba lunch was too much for me, super value for money but I did not like saba to that extent lol.

Found a good way to make sure he has ample exercise even when the dog lands are close during winter. In the same time, S was also aching throughout the next few days lol!

Promotion Party

Went to S's colleague promotion party that was organised in his house. Ever since Kristi left, I rarely attend firefighter's gathering or party. Honesty I am not good in making conversation, not idea what to ask and what to say. Don't mind going since there always nice food but I dread the conversation part lol. S's colleague girlfriend prepared most of food (at least 10 different dishes) and it tasted so food! I ended up watching cartoon movie and sat until I finished the whole movie (been long since I last watch an English movie). S was busy drinking away lol...

Things about Hideji

So far we have Hideji for 2 months and we are still learning more about him everyday. Even though he takes up our time, I could not imagine life without him now.

1. Hideji rarely barks. However, he's protective of his sleeping area which is entrance of the house so strangers (no matter how we scold him or that the person had came our house numerous of time) that entered he would bark non-stop. If there's a car or person getting near to our house, he would just small growl or ruff but once he recognise the person (like the postman that comes everyday, he would not make a sound). Same goes when seeing other dogs during our walks, most dogs would be barking towards him but he would not bark back. 
2. Shiba typically has character of a cat meaning usually they go their own way lol. I had seen many other shiba that will play fetch and obey all commands from their owner but this type of cases are usually being trained from puppy. My concept of having a dog (play fetch, welcome us when we are back home, keep following me and play frisbee) had completely vanished. Hideji has done none of that on my list and he will refuse to come out his cage even after my relentless calling if he is tired lol.  
3. Hideji looks strong but he is quite weak lol. He also will get car sick from long car ride..... So far in our 2 month together, we found that he has food allergy (so far we are not sure what it is) and he had bitten his paws raw and bloody. He has recovered as we changed to low allergy dog food. He also had diarrhea the next day when he took a bath since the weather was too cold. The latest case: keeps pawing his mouth area, not sure whats the cause, still on monitoring mode.

Also from breeder's blog, make me wish we had him since young! This picture is 100 % Hideji! The posture is exactly the same as now!

Its pretty common to see eagles in countryside but recently there's two new comers that resided just right behind our area. I see them almost everyday.
