2nd Week with Hideji

Shiba is supposed to be good in winter but the Shiba breeder told us that Hideji has yet to grow his winter fur yet so its best we kept him indoor. We tried putting outside with the dog house since its is not good to keep him in the cage all the time (He hardly listen to us since he still did not trust us). Eventually I realised as long the sun is out he would be fine but without the sun he would be shivering. If you notice S is always masked and had his gloves on whenever he touch Hideji, he was ill at the time and his skin will get itchy when he touched Hideji. So with no choice he has to be in full gear all the time lol!

Brought toy for him to chew, stopped halfway when he noticed me and continued again

One coin Lunch promo 1000 yen. Super worth it and it there side dishes you can take.

S's new cooking menu. tasted so good!

trying to lick his back paw and resulted in the funny pose

I shall remain calm while my lousy owner bullied me

Fikri's Birthday

We prepared our "not really surprise" birthday celebration for our Malaysian classmate. He has 8 siblings and has never celebrate his birthday nor receive a birthday cake before. Thus we planned a celebration for him then :)
Asked him what he wanted for present and he replied 1) Shoes (don't know his shoe size), 2) Watch (don't know his style), 3) Fishing reel (out of budget lol!), 4) Fruits (Isn't fruits for visiting someone house or hospital?). Ended up giving him shopping voucher and let him decide himself.

Done by Sensei

He even wore his traditional outfit and spent a really long time in the toilet trying to fix it lol! If I did not look for him, he would take even longer!

Sensei brought the cake and it was made up of cupcakes. Smart idea~!

I hoped you enjoy the surprise

First Week w Hideji

My lifestyle has totally changed, have to bring Hideji out for walk twice a day and at least more than 30 minutes. We take turns taking him out, S takes him out before he goes to work while I take him in the afternoon and next morning before S is back from work. If its S's off day then we take him together or just S alone. No more naps for me sobsob and we were knockout before 11pm. Sometime we even slept at 10pm, really too tired.

Sometimes I wonder if he knows his name since he usually don't respond to my calling, or maybe he was too absorbed in the new surroundings. Kept pulling his leash and dragging me. Probably do not view me as owner yet....

I will go my way and only my way

Did you call me.... Ignore....!

Daily activity

He loves being brush

Managed to capture this frightening pic with S's scary eyes (or without it)

Birthday Celebration @ Hachinohe Class

Planned a surprise birthday for my chinese classmate during the Tuesday Hachinohe class. Sensei kindly brought the cake (birthday cake is expensive in Japan, easily 3000 yen onwards, Sin $40) while I brought drinks, plates and did the birthday card. Hehe she was not expecting it and she loved the card which I printed our class photo. That same day 3 new classmates joined us and they either switch class (too difficult) or due to work schedule and they disappeared then after. Usually my class is always the same: 3 Vietnamese, 2 Chinese, 3 Americans and 1 Singaporean. Not used to new classmates all sudden.

Sensei brought the cake

The usual classmates with sensei

New classmates joined in on that day with our another sensei. We have 2 teachers for our class

Red Beans Harvest & Hideji

Planted red beans end of summer after we were done with the potatoes. Still had to wait for the beans to dry out, if you try to remove the green shells, you will realise it not just difficult to remove and all the moisture was retained within the shells so the beans were wet.

It was 2nd day with Hideji, we placed him at the entrance in the house. I was hoping he could adjust to us (wistful thinking). The moment I opened the door and looked at him, he was barking furiously at me. No matter how I shouted at him, he could not back down. In the end I retreated in defeat lol. Later I learnt, as long I did not look at him and went down to do my stuff, he would not bark. Probably he felt threatened when I looked at him.

Hideji was so smelly that we showered him the 3rd day, we were expecting him to resist it and it turned out he did not mind at all. He seemed to be enjoying it!

Our own red beans! Have to wait for it to dry out like the white ones for easy peeling

removing the shell was tedious

1 bag done!

Daily brushing

he loves bath time!

checking if i was spying on him *and I was.... lol

I caught him falling asleep with his head dropping lower and lower. Unfortunately this video was taken after he did it.

Hideji 22.10.16

During lunch, my fil was listing the reasons why older Hideji is preferred:
He is at the age able to understand our commands and emotions, so its easier to train him.
Young puppies are prone to high risk of illness and they are like babies any time and anywhere will poop and urine. We do not need to train Hideji, he already know to do his business outside.
My mil reasoning: Hideji is free! We save 1k!
S: I feel a connection with Hideji and he did not pull much while taking a walk (liar, he kept pulling). But its ok, we can take the puppy if you like it.
Me:....... *Lets take Hideji then, the chances of him getting a new owner much lower.

And so..... S and my fil went to get Hideji and my mil and I stayed at home to prepare for his arrival.

When they arrived, I heard from S that Hideji puked twice over my fil's horrible driving. That was after the Shiba breeder told them Hideji has no issue with car rides..... Poor Hideji!

Quite worried with us.

Getting a pet

S has been considering to get a dog for the longest time and the feeling increased when we found Kenji (the lost dog (Shiba) that we took care for 3 hours before the owner's friend came to take him back). We went to a few pet shops to look at Shiba (Japanese breed dog) and even found 1 that his birthday is 1 day apart from me. Those pet shops usually cost around 150,000 yen - 250,000 yen (2k - 3k plus). S contacted shiba breeder (those that breed shiba specially for contest, they would choose the best to enter contest and sell away the rest) but intially he sounded reluctant to meet us. Since we had no experience in taking care of dogs (Shiba is known for its stubbornness and is challenging to control and teach). Said will contact us again before meeting on Saturday, but no response from him til Friday, to the extent we were considering to take the puppy from pet shop.

We went to breeder house and there were many shiba ( around 7) in different ages. I saw the puppy and he was so cute! S and my fil took interest in Hideji (thats soon to be a year old) and it was obvious they prefer Hideji. I was reluctant as I had anticipated a puppy, everything I read and we brought were meant for puppy......It was like I had expected to care for a 4 year toddler and you handed me a 8 year old child. We left to discuss our options over lunch. If we took Hideji, he is free as it is difficult to find owner as he grows older, if we took the puppy, then it costs 130,000yen (1.6k).

Discussing our options over sea urchin meals lol!

Trip to Owl Cafe in Hirosaki

After Kuroishi, we went to owl cafe in Hirosaki. Its pretty near to Hirosaki station, within walking distance. Per person 1000 yen for a hour with all you can drink vending machine lol! I only drank once as I was busy playing with the owls. S loves birds! He was not afraid of getting close to them, while I held them 1 arm length away. I have a phobia with flying creatures since I can't predict their movement. There were all types of sizes, the big ones looked more threatening that I just touch them for a while. I prefer smaller owls at least if I got bitten, it would not hurt lol. Even though I requested to come visit, S was so much comfortable with the owls than me.

The owls loved being stroked on their heads, if you do it, they will relax their body and let you stroke them. They were expressionless most of them so when they turned towards me, especially the big ones.. I retreated. Won't know they will attack or just let you carry on touching them. I usually stroke them when their attention were at somewhere else.

So cute! she will speak back if you talk to her

Their feathers were so soft!!

Not tame yet, do not touch!

The big owl, I don't dare to hold near me

They were best friends

Love being massaged on the heads

same breed as Harry potter's owl.
