Aguri no Sato Oirase Farm おいらせ アグリの里

S is back from Yokota base and we went to Aguri no Sato Oirase Farm to buy local products for his teammates he met during his training. I saw the new menu for the mainly vegetables buffet (Super popular among the locals, usually have to queue up if you arrive late) and we decided to have our lunch there. S was sick of frozen food that he had been eating past 1 month.

Per person cost 1380 yen (11am - 3pm) (Weekday no time limit, Weekend 90 minutes)

Found Kenji!

Drove home after Misawa Air Festival and found a shiba dog running around around our house and it approached our car as we got near. Did not look like a stray dog since its was well groomed and had a collar. We were wondering if it was abandoned by the owner and since it was running everywhere so we could not check him. All of us were just watching from a distance while it was running around, there were 2 other dogs latched by the other houses and it even made friends with one of the dogs!

After a while, it finally approached us and stopped for a drink (I filled the plate with water thinking it should be thirsty), finally managed to grab him. From the dog tags, we tried calling but could not get through, tried looking up at the internet but no useful information (Found out his name was Kenji from the tag). We were thinking should we just take care of him then and my father in law was already in the process of giving him a new name and trying to hypnotise Kenji ;p!

S managed to contact the owner by texting and his friend came to pick him up and we realised its our opposite neighbour! Apparently, Kenji's owner was in overseas and got his friend (our neighbour) to take care Kenji temporarily. Our neighbour latched him at the back of the house but he escaped somehow. So that's explained why Kenji was running around our area! Our house's location is dead end  so rarely have people walking into our lane.

It was fun 3 hours taking care of Kenji! Miss you!

(P.S) S had told me how his dad (my father in law) is an animal whisperer, S's pets would become my father in law's pets and only obey him in the end. Kenji was waving his tail at my father in law after a short while.

Running round and round

Finally managed to grab and latch him

its hard to take picture with him! cannot stay still

Misawa Air Festival 2016

This year we were able to drive in the base during Misawa Air Festival thanks to S! Took us 1 hour queuing car by car to get in but hey way better than standing and queuing outside the base and walking 15 minutes to get the festival area. This year the layout was also better as those stalls that sold the military coins, t-shirts were located in different places around the planes. It was easier to spot the stalls and prevent overcrowding unlike last year.

Being VIP guest from JSDF, we also received the "elaborate" ribbon and was able to sit in the VIP seats but we just sat on the floor randomly like every year lol.. This year we managed to queue to take photo with the Blue Impulse pilot. While queuing, we noticed everyone was holding a Blue Impulse magazine and getting the pilots to sign. Seemed like have to pay for the magazine.

Melons.... Fail !!

Started our first try of planting melons, different types of it. The green melons which i had blogged about it before was a success even though its small. Red melons (rock melons) on other hand had failed. Due to the continous bad weather conditions and typhoons, some of the red melons were smashed the next day when i went to check on them. :(

The remaining melons i left intact as i could not tell if its ripe or not and the size seemed to be small. S came back from his long trip and declared it should be ready...

When we decided to eat it, so disappointing. All 3 red melons were yet to be ripe, it was not sweet, tasted like slightly sweet cucumber. In the end we threw them all away.... What a waste! Hope we have better luck next year!

Visit from Okaasan

S was away for 3 weeks when my mother in law decided to come and visit me to check out how I was doing. We had been talking on the phone few times per week but she was concerned how I was faring without S. So far the summer in Japan was so hot that she was not able to visit and I had been switching on air con and hiding in my bedroom most of them. My house felt like a oven without the air con. When she came, she brought along my favourite (but expensive) scallops and jellies.
I brought her to my favourite sushi place in oirase and she loved it! Went to several places thereafter eating here and there. Gave her plenty of garden vegetables to bring back!

Enjoyed our time together and thank you for driving all the way from Aomori and taking me around !

This is near the oirase city hall, i missed the food and hence I went back one day to eat by myself. Only 1100 yen ($14.50)

1000 yen ($13) set.

My set @ 1600 yen, I did not know the 2 sashimi dons both had rice underneath. Too much rice for me. Loved the sashimi volume though!

Caramel pancake, I also ordered ice cream sundae which I forgot to take picture. So fattening that day!
