Hakodate Trip (Day 2 Part 1)

La Vista (Hakodate) Hotel is ranked second in Japan for its morning breakfast. The main reason is that they offer unlimited seafood sashimi don! The buffet starts from 6.30am and there will be queuing forming way before it starts. We were advised to go after 8.30 am to avoid the morning rush hour lol. Even then, we also had to queue for a while before its our turn. Ate so much that we were full until late afternoon.

Hakodate Trip (Day 1 Part 2)

Started raining when we made our way to the first shrine, Hachimagu. The rain became heavier after that while we walked to visit 2 more shrines and eventually gave up and headed back to the shopping area. It was cold and windy especially for S who forgot to bring along his jacket for the trip. Thankfully my mother in law brought an extra disposable raincoat otherwise he be drenched!
Hokkaido is famous for mutton meat so we went to opposite restaurant beside our hotel, super tasty! You can also choose 90 minutes buffet for 3000 yen per pax but it will be cheaper to order ala carte for small eaters. Went back to our hotel and relax in the onsen before calling it a night.

Hakodate Trip (Day 1 Part 1)

New Shinkansen connecting from Aomori to Hokkiado finally arrived on March! We booked a trip to Hakodate with my mother in law and grandmother in law to enjoy the ride! Not so convenient as I had expected, we had to transfer 3 times from Shichinohe JR to Shin-Aomori to Shin-Hakodate Hokudo and finally switched to board local train (Hakodate Liner, 20 minutes) to Hakodate, The journey including driving back home took us 3 1/2 hours. Did not have chance or time to tour the new Shin-Hakodate Hokudo station but S said its just to transfer, nothing much to see.

We took cab to a french restaurant that my mother in law booked and she ordered expensive set for the 2 of us (has to book early) while they took the normal lunch set. So delicious! My mother in law always have good taste in deciding hotels and restaurants, will never go wrong whenever we followed her!

waiting to the arrive of bullet train at shin aomori station

always the funny one at the back

the local hakodate liner to hakodate

cannot tell its a french restaurant, also no menu at the door

mine is duck (need to top up 500 yen more) so good!

My mother in law set? fish

They had a whole set desserts! even pulled out 1 whole tray for me to choose (because my set is the expensive one), and I can chose 3. Cheese, pear and chocolate

my mother in law's strawberry cake with vanilla ice cream. super yummy

S is the odd one, instead of choosing dessert he took the cheese platter. He love cheese

Shiga Prefecture and Osaka (Last half Day)

Took the train to the last station to Shiga as it was near another station that allowed us to take rapid train back to Osaka. We ended up exploring around the station and discovered soba restaurants with many people queuing and shrines around. Seem to be very popular with elderly Japanese.

Went back Osaka and went to Tsuruhashi station which is famous for Korean town and full of Korean restaurants. However as we walked around the main street with all the store helpers pushing the menu and talking to us, we discovered a small alley and found a queue forming at a old and dirty looking place.  Turned out to be the best organ bbqs we had so far and within budget. Won't recommend those that cannot read hiragana and cannot recognise names of organs since they do not have pictures.

Finally we found decent lunch at Shiga!

Long queue everywhere for lunch, seem be a tourist hotspot with locals.
