BBQ Party

We had bbq on sunday, Bao made korean ribs and brought it along with the grill set. Its was sooooooo delicious! I heard its pretty tedious as many ingredients are needed and they made the sauce themselves to marinate the meat. Shota brought his friend along and those guys can drink! His poor friend was bitten all over by mosquito and was itching all over. We should do more of this often!

3 guys setting up the grill while the gals wait in the house lol~

Finally its ready to eat!!! See how happy they were!

Korean ribs! doesn't taste spicy, its so sweet! More pls!

Look at the amount! this is american size!

im at least 3 heads shorter than bao lol
making avocado dip for the chips! the only thing i can do ;p

They brought over beer chips! 1st time tasting it.

Poor Bao had too much to drink hehehe!

Waking up in the morning is such a chore!

Usually when Shota came back from work at 8.30am, we will go out to run errands, grocery shopping etc... As a person who woke up only at 10am, i learn to adpat the time and wake up before he arrives home otherwise he will keep knocking against the window and said Bu-chan is so lousy... so to prove him wrong, i wake up at 8am or 8.15am to greet him.

If he is working that day, its even worse... He gets up at 6.30am and left around 7.15am. I tried to wake up at 6.30am with him but failed miserably , he did pushed me back to bed when i tried to get up probably because i look like a wreck with half closed eyes. So far i only managed to make him 1 breakfast before he went to work... Housewives that are reading and shaking their head at the same time..... Yes i admit, I do not fulfil the requirements of what housewife supposed to do :p I only wake up at 7.15am with the same barely opened eyes to send him off..... and YES.... HE's the one whom wake me up... *Hanging my head down in shame*

Hey Hey i have my merits!! I will elaborate next time!

Not sure of the name but its like a park with a mart that sells local produce and meals

Local burger!

Nicest of all is the Navy burger @ 500yen! Its so fresh and taste of beef yums! Unlike the mac Donald version

The scenrey at the park, good for kids to run around

At night we went to Taguri san ramen restaurant at Hachinohe. For those who attended my wedding, he's the one who lead the toast on the stage. His son managed the place but too bad he wasn't there when we arrived

went supermarket and brought scallops!!!! Cooked by shota.. yummy!

Bao and Kristi brought as well! Bao's version. Aren't we bless with such wonderful husband that cooks for us!

Obon and dinner outing

During Obon week, similar to qing ming/ ghost festival where spirits of ancestors/beloved are believed to come back and visit. Graves are to be visited and pray for the spirits.

This is my 1st time going to a cemetery in Japan. Did not take any photos as i do not wish to offend any spirits nor bring 'extra' back. My mum went backpacking in eastern Europe few years ago, she went to jewish cemetery and take photos of the cemetery like a typical tourist would. However, during her sleep she felt something is strangling her neck, she tried to shout and move to wake her friend up but she couldn't at all. The next day, she immediately deleted the photos taken at cemetery. So i rather not take any chances at all.

Few things that strike me is that, the grave is multi purpose grave meant for whole family. Meaning you can put family deceased names in 1 grave. In this instance, shota's family have 3 deceased names engrave on the side of the grave, with their ashes placed together in the grave. In the future, this will be the same grave for me and shota as well.

I noticed some of graves have statue of child at the side and was wondering about it. Shota said it means that this family had lost their child or baby hence the statue of the child. I hoped our family won't ever encounter that.

After that, we went to my favourite soba shop in Aomori to have lunch. Its was even better than i remembered. I am really thankful to have wonderful parents in law and obaachan concerning about me and how i can adapt to their world. In Singapore, you really have to count your blessings to have this type of in laws. Too many horror stories that really make you question if it is worth marrying or being single is better actually.

We drove back to Misawa and Bao & Kristi brought dinner over. They sure had cooked a feast! Its was soooooo delicious and i can imagine all the time and effort spent! My mouth is watering and stomach is growling as i type lol. Thank you Bao & Kristi for preparing such wonderful meal! Next time will be our turn!! or least shota's turn -p

so this is my fav soba by far

Day trip to Aomori

During the Aomori Nebuta Festival, we went back to Aomori for a day trip. Nebuta Festival is a famous summer festival that bring thousands of tourists flocking to Aomori. It is 1 of 3 great fire festivals in Tohoku Region. Usually its held in early august and all prices hike up e.g hotels, air tickets.... However this time we did not went specifically to watch it since we had seen it already. Instead we went to aquarium and just hang around. I had been to the aquarium several times and most enjoyable part was watching dolphins and cute sea lions. I also found penguins in Japan much active than in Singapore! Singapore Zoo penguins usually just stand there like a statue or when it finally move and looks like its gonna take a swim... It will change its mind again and continue standing and staring in space. In comparison to penguins in Japan kept swimming and have lots of movement. I wonder why?

our brunch

my scallops ramen. Its nice but eating hot ramen in hot summer makes me sweat...

strawberry icecream.. Kristi declared its the best strawberry ice cream she had tasted so far

The Global Kitchen and Shiroi Mori Cake House

One super hot late sunday, we decided to try the Thai place that shota is telling me about; The Global Kitchen. We arrived at 1.30pm and realised that every sunday is their buffet brunch from 11am - 3pm. Last order is at 2.30pm. I was thinking if i had known i would drag my lazy ass up and come here at 11am and eat til 2pm at least :x. Thats what i did in singapore... lol....

Because we were too hot and famished, we decided to go ahead anyway. It costs around 1300yen per pax. Rice, noodles, certain dishes are buffet style while others are by orders. Personally those rice and noodles is not my favs during a buffet as i will be full easily. Of course i would want to eat dishes that i won't be able to cook at all. There's some hits and misses but i will come here again since the individuals ordering is nicer than the buffet and tom yum soup is yummy! Not alot ingredients but its taste of soup reminds me of SEA.

very asian

these are the orders

its delicious but the portion is so small!

forgot the name of it but its slightly spicy and good

decor inside the stall

My favourite cafe in Misawa is Shiroi Mori. Its is 2 mins drive away from my house and 15mins if i took my bicycle. The food is delicious and the desserts is da bomb! They also give discount coupons when you patronise them! How wonderful! More excuses for me to come every now and then!
Lunch menu set cost 1200 yen and includes drink and dessert. Their lunch set dessert change regularly so you won't be bored at all. They also sells cookies and cakes that taste just as good!

Have been here 3 times so far and it won't be my last!

Bao ordered it and it tasted so good. Pita curry chicken

this is good but not for ppl that dislike veggies, but pita is still better to me

thats the lunch set dessert, you don't get to choose but trust me, anything they make its good.

We came back in late afternoon to taste the cakes. so pretty but the tart is very hard so its difficult to break it and eat.

chocolate cake, this is good.

milk ice cream

you can choose to sit inside when its hot or outside when its windy

next time.....

another lunch set dessert when i came another day :>
