Missiles Over us

While we were in lala land (5 plus in morning), S's hp beeped in alarm "Missile from North Korea had been fired towards our region. Seek shelter at underground or building". It would only took 4 minutes for missile to hit us. My mind was still groggy at the moment while S was wide awake and checking the news and radio with his phone. I wanted to even continue sleeping since there was nothing we could in 4 minutes anyway.  Just then, my phone rang and it was my Singaporean friend living in Misawa. She was home alone and in panic, asking me where she should evacuate to. I asked S and there are no shelter or underground bomb shelter in Tohoku region at all. After chatting awhile, I realised she was outside her house and told her to go back in.

The second time it happened was just 6 days ago at 7 am. Same thing with the alarm blasting but this time we were less alarmed. Like usual, I wanted to doze off again... I think I too bo chap lol..... My friend called again, she was home alone yet again. Reassured her (took shorter time this time lol) and I drifted into sleep. Of course it was a scary moment knowing the missile had fired toward East Japan but within 4 minutes what can one do? Nothing....

Misawa Air Festival 2017

Glad S had invitation to drive in the base during the Air Festival. In the midst of waiting for entry, sudden rain storm started pouring down. It lasted for quite a while and S had it all prepared with waterproof mountain gear jackets (even pants for me!). The only item we could not prevent from soaking wet were our shoes lol.... Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the display of planes and enjoyed the food! Some booths were destroyed by the rainstorm, tents beyond repair and their goods were drenched! Super poor thing! Saw couple of booth owners struggling to set up their booth without the tents.

We usually only spent the morning and left around 11am, so I never get to see the air performances but this time we were able to watch it from my house!

S's department was of the few that their booth got swept in the rain. Had to leave even before the festival started lol..

sasebo burger, it was huge!

Tasted so good!

Hideji New Bed!

Took his old mat for wash as we had not washed for quite a while. In the meantime we brought this new expensive mat since long time ago and was waiting for a chance to use it once we settled into the new house. Turnout that Hideji was being being such a baby about it, refused to enter unless we forced him in and was whining when we shut the door and went to bed. He even slept outside the mat. Guess he probably not used to the new bed without his familiar scent or he hated the cushion that came along with the mat.

We removed the cushion and placed his old blanket into the mat and coaxed him in. Had to keep patting and comforting him non stop while he eventually slept. Finally! He got used to it after the 3rd day and went in when its near bedtime!

finally got used to his new bed

In the end the cushion acted as his pillow. Looked comfortable!

Not sure why he went out.

thats me or rather us singing lullaby and coaxing him to sleep for 3 days

Shichinohe Narabi (Namiki Gelato shop + farm)

First time driving down to Shichinohe with my friend! Not a good day for me as I got lost while driving and have no idea where was the farm. Had to drive to the Shichinohe road station to get wifi to download google map to get us to the farm. Did not know google map can work offline after the route was being set! Thanks to my friend! Otherwise I had no idea what we be eating that day lol!

Upon reaching there was a line filled with people waiting out the restaurant.... Seemed like either its a long holiday for Japanese or summer vacation for them and we had to wait 2 hours for our turn! It would be torture if we had spend our time eating gelato and chatting away. Towards the end I was getting hungry and impatient.....  The lunch set was good but I never want to queue 2 hours for it again!

Ohako Cafe

Had missed out this cafe for the past 4 years so it is located so close to the bank that we went every now and then. Finally noticed it one day and was surprised by the website. Child friendly, clean and sleek just like the cafe. Speciality is gyoza and my friend loved their coffee.

Operating hours: 10am - 7pm
Closed on every Wednesday and every 3rd week of the month Sunday

For parents with children

My soup curry, unfortunately it was not as nice as it looked. Soup too sweet and on cold side.

Fren's small lunch set.

we ordered extra gyoza to share. Love the gyoza
